Prof. Sunil Kumar Singh

Prof. Sunil Kumar Singh is the Director of CSIR – National Institute of Oceanography (CSIR-NIO), Goa, and a Professor at the Physical Research Laboratory, Ahmedabad. Born in 1971, he completed his B.Sc. and M.Sc. (Tech.) from Banaras Hindu University and his PhD in Geology from the Physical Research Laboratory and M.S. University, Vadodara. He is a leading Indian geochemist known for his studies in low-temperature elemental and isotope geochemistry, with research that has advanced understanding of the evolution of the Himalayas and biogeochemical cycling in the Indian Ocean. His research interests span geochemistry, isotope chemistry, palaeoclimate, palaeoceanography, nutrient cycling, and biogeochemistry. He has been conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award of the Indian Society of Applied Geochemists (ISAG) for his contributions to Earth Sciences and applied geochemistry.
