India 36 is a youth assembly structured around India’s 28 states and 8 Union Territories. Each of the 36 participating schools represents one state or UT, debating domestic policy questions that have both global roots and local consequences.
The format draws on the proven energy of Model United Nations (structured debate, position papers, resolutions), with the lens turned inward. Students represent their assigned state’s interests, research its specific conditions, and argue for its position within a national conversation.
The debate comes alive precisely because every state brings a different lived reality to the same question: global frameworks land differently in Kerala than they do in Ladakh, in Tamil Nadu than in Nagaland.
India has 28 States and 8 Union Territories, 36 in total. Each participating school represents one unit of India.
